Feeling frustrated with the “standard”-sized gown samples you find in regular bridal salons (to say nothing of standard sizing at off-the-rack clothing stores)? Think it’s unfair that only a “perfect” size 8 gets to try on a gown and see how it’ll really look?

We agree!
We started As You Like It Bridal because we’d had enough of the standard-size way of thinking. We saw that shopping for a bridal gown can be frustrating at best, and downright traumatic at worst. We knew we could find a better way, and we have. (Read the story that inspired the founding of As You Like It Bridal).
At As You Like It, we don’t pretend women fit into a “standard” mold. Big, small, tall, short, all angles or all curves, every woman has glorious perfections and fabulous flaws. Here our sole focus is to design gowns for real women.
We want you to come in and see us because we know that, whether you purchase a gown or not, you’ll leave feeling beautiful, self-assured and full of hope. This is our promise to every woman who visits us.
Here are some of the things we do to make sure that you’ll find many beautiful styles for your figure:
- We specifically design our gowns to flatter all different figure types. Each season we carefully design new pieces to complement every imaginable figure feature. Because everything’s interchangeable, you can try on endless combinations that suit you, and none that don’t.
- Every style is in separates in our studio. That means you can mix and match styles. But did you realize it means you can mix and match sizes? After all, what woman is the same size on top as on bottom? We don’t know any!
- We have every piece in the studio in a very broad range of sizes. You really will try on gowns that fit you! We’ll select the right pieces for you, so you’ll never have the unpleasant experience of putting on something that doesn’t fit (because who enjoys that?).
- We have years of experience. Full or boyish hips, narrow or broad shoulders , buxom or waify bustlines, rounded tummies or no curves at all, we know just what you need to look fabulous. And we’ll never suggest something that won’t flatter you (who wants that kind of shock in the mirror?) Let us help you find the styles that you may not even realize are perfect for you.
- We’ve thrown sizes out the window. There are no standard sizes here, no size charts – no sizes at all. (Well, you see the word around our web site, but only because it’s an easy shorthand.) Using a combination of unique fitting methods and clever design, we fine-tune our studio samples to fit you while you’re wearing them. No piece even has a size label (don’t worry, though, we do know which is which). The truth is, we don’t need to give a whit about size, and neither do you – because your gown will be custom made.
- We are experts in dressing all figures. Typical design education focuses on the “ideal” figure, but few women are shaped like that! In addition to traditional training, As You Like It’s designer sought out specific education in designing for and dressing fuller figures, so she could confidently create beautiful designs for every woman.
A Special Note…
We would like to personally welcome fuller-figured brides to As You Like It Bridal. In our experience, women who don’t fit the standard-size-8 mold can be treated quite poorly by bridal salons. Most bridal shops have very little to offer the more curvaceous woman, and worse, shop employees sometimes show little consideration to women who aren’t likely to fit perfectly into the sample gowns.
