Before You Come In

Many brides wonder if they need to know what they’re looking for before coming in – in fact, many brides shy away from a custom gown because of that! That makes sense – it’s hard to be sure what you want until you’ve tried it on.

At As You Like It we’ve solved that problem. Every season we design new styles for you to shop from. You actually get to try them all on and see exactly how they’ll look on you before deciding, so you don’t need to know what you want before you come in. In the studio, every design is in separates, so you can mix and match - but your gown will be made in one piece.

You can also start from an idea, pictures from magazines, or gowns you’ve seen elsewhere. And if you don’t find exactly what you want, we’ll design it with you from scratch. Read Finding Your Gown for more details on how it all works.

You should try to visit between 6 and 12 months before your wedding date. But don’t be discouraged if your wedding is closer than that! We often have time even last-minute. Gowns are normally completed a few weeks before your wedding date; this can be adjusted to accommodate your schedule.

When you come in, you’ll meet with the designer herself one-on-one. You should expect your first appointment to last two to three hours. You’re more than welcome to bring friends, family, or wedding party members with you!

There is no charge to come in for an appointment, and no commitment to purchase a gown. We welcome you for a visit and are honored to help you in any way we can.
